PHP Version Updates And Limits

Updating PHP is like all software, gets updated over time to patch security issues and improve its features. And like other software, it’s important to keep your PHP version up to date for your site performance and security purpose.

Updating your PHP version

In most cases you cannot update the PHP version yourself and need to contact your hosting provider about this. The upgrade process is an easy process and should be something your host can do for you without impacting your website or charging you a fee.

If your host provider doesn’t support PHP higher versions, we recommend you find a host that does. If you contact another host, be sure to ask them which PHP version your website will run on before purchasing.

PHP configuration limits :

MAX_EXECUTION_TIME = 180
MEMORY_LIMIT = 128M
POST_MAX_SIZE = 32M
UPLOAD_MAX_FILESIZE = 30M
MAX_INPUT_TIME = 120

How To Check This ?

  1. You can check this in the php.ini file on your server and modify them as necessary. If you are not familiar with modifying this, you can reach out to your server hosting provider who should be able to configure this for you.
  2. You can install and activate a plugin called PHP Info. On activating the plugin, the PHP Info can be found by navigating to Tools > PHP Info. You can then reach out to your server hosting provider who should be able to configure/modify this if required.
